MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PARISH COUNCCIL HELD ON TUESDAY 9 MARCH 2022 AT ST BEGA’S VILLAGE HALL, ESKDALE GREEN COMMENCING AT 7.30PM

91/21 To Approve the Minutes of the meetings held on 11 January 2022

The Minutes of the meeting of the meeting held on 11 January 2021 were approved and signed by the Chair

A report had been previously circulated by the Clerk

93/21 Progress Reports

93/21.1 Giggle Alley

Representatives from Forestry England gave an update on Giggle Alley. Removed larch and ash trees to be replaced with oaks, cherry, rowan and broad leaf trees. Canopies have been removed in preparation.

Plans to resurrect the Japanese Garden – Phase 1 consultants to undertake a topographical species survey – restoration plan expected end of summer which will be implemented.

Forestry England will be looking for volunteers to maintain the community woodland.

The land above the car park belongs to Forestry England and need details of proposed planting.

Timber extracted from Giggle Alley will be taken through the village by tractor and trailers.

Application for funding to GDF project – To be costed out. Suggestion used as a tourist information point

Cllr Hunt reported that the land did not belong to the Outward Bound Centre. Forestry England own

Resolved for 5 trees at Forge Bridge a mixture of Rowan and Cherry underplanted with wildflower seeds

98/21.11 Highways Issues – Boot

A member of the public reported potholes from King George to Brookhouse, Boot. Clerk reminded council that individuals can report highways issues directly using the online reporting system.

Village Hall – It was noted that the Village Hall were holding a meeting regarding the future of the building.

To discuss any correspondence received for open discussion

  • Communication had been received regarding the Coast to coast cycle event. – noted
