DRAFT MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON TUESDAY 11 JANUARY 2021 AT St BEGA’S VILLAGE HALL, ESKDALE GREEN COMMENCING AT 7.30PM

Present: Cllr R Brown (Chair), Cllr T Postlethwaite, Cllr D Porter, Cllr M Shaftesley and Cllr C Carlin

73/21 Apologies for absence
Apologies were received and accepted from Cllr I Kirkby, Cllr L Hunt, Cllr J Harrington,

There were no items on the Agenda requiring the exclusion of press and public

There were no Declarations of Interest

76/21 To Approve the Minutes of the meetings held on 16 November 2021
The Minutes of the meeting of the meeting held on 16 November 2021 were approved and signed by the Chair

A report had been previously circulated by the Clerk

The Clerk had still not received a response. Cllr Carlin to investigate.

78/21.2 Hard Knott Telephone Box
The Clerk reported that the application for the removal of the Grade 2 listing had been refused.

80/21 County Councillor/District Councillor reports
B. Cllr McGrath reported that Copeland BC had set their budget with a 2% increase. Under the Local Government Reorganisation the number of councillors for Copeland had been reduced from 44 to 12 with the existing Cumbria County Council ward boundaries. Elections in May 22 for the shadow cabinet with vesting day May 2023 for new authority.
GDF Community Partnership up to £1m of funding available for the south Copeland ward.

81/21.1 To examine applications for development and submit observations to the Planning Authority

81/21.2 To ratify the observations submitted by the Clerk under devolved powers since last meeting.

83/21.1 Housing Survey/Community Plan
Cllr Carlin reported that comments had been sent to Copeland Bc before Christmas re contradictions. Won’t support open market housing

The Clerk reported that local councils had been contacted via email, awaiting a response.

83/21.4 FOLD Landscape Grants – Community Garden
In the absence of Cllr Hunt, deferred to next meeting

83/21.5 Queen’s Platinum Jubilee/Plant a tree for the Jubilee
Clerk to investigate obtaining a tree(s)

83/21.6 Hedge cutting and environmental projects
Clerk to investigate purchase of wild flower seeds

83/21.7 Speeding
The Clerk reported that the results of the speed checks had been received along with recommendations. It was resolved not to pursue signage as average speeds were below 30mph

  • Cllr Carlin asked if Highways could be contacted for the gritting to be extended to the King Billy

Full council meeting 7.30pm 8 March 2022 at St Bega’s Village Hall, Eskdale Green
