MINUTES OF THE ORDINARY MEETING OF THE PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON TUESDAY 12 NOVEMBER 2024 AT St BEGA’S VILLAGE HALL, ESKDALE GREEN COMMENCING AT 7.30PM

Report of locked gate at cattlegrid — resolved

Re-location of Noticeboard — Lengthsman asked to relocate it, it had been put upside down. Investigate making alum key easier to use.

War Memorial — Clerk has contacted War memorials trust who have given permission for works to be undertaken. To contact local stone masons to undertake the works.

62/24 Parish Matters

62/24.1 Hard Knott Telephone Box

ClIir Brown reported that 2 small panes of glass and their internal fittings had been stolen from the telephone box. Clerk to report to police and put up on social media.

62/24.2 Community Plan

Carole Barr gave advice as to the next stage of the process. Needs and wants survey undertaken. Version 2 focus on 3 topics Roads, Community, Tourists. More information required on these 3 topics. Consider holding an event to discuss and get more information. May Art Festival r date to speak to people and get views. Involve Village Hall Committee and School. Invite local MP Michelle Scrogham to event. Carole Barr to meet with the Clerk to develop a questionnaire.

A request of support was approved.

Village Hall — Clir Shaftesley reported that Storm Arwen monies had ben spent on a generator and other equipment for emergency shelter.

64/24 Correspondence

To discuss any correspondence received for open discussion

  • Correspondence had been received from a resident questioning ownership of Leylandii trees bordering their property, It was established that the owner was Cumberland Council. Clerk to respond.

65/24 Councillor Matters

  • ClIir Shaftesley raised the issue of the failure of the mobile network during the recent power cut which lasted 13 hours. ENW were unable to connect with vulnerable people. Clerk to raise concerns with EE/BT/ENW and invite representatives to a meeting.

66/24 Date of Next Meeting

The next meeting of the Parish Council 14 January 2025 at St Bega’s Village Hall, Eskdale Green commencing at 7.30pm

There being no other business the meeting closed at 2050 hours.
