MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE PARISH COUNCIL
HELD ON TUESDAY 10 SEPTEMBER 2024 AT St BEGA’S VILLAGE HALL, ESKDALE GREEN COMMENCING AT 7.30PM

The Minutes of the meeting of the meeting held on 9 July 2024 were approved and signed by the Chair. Proposed Clir Kirkby, Seconded Clir Shaftesley.

Clir Pratt had submitted a report to the council:

  • Requested for white lining to be re done at Irton levels, school road end, the turn to Forrest How and Randle How and Gatesyde Place.
  • A595 overnight works commence 16 September from Holmrook to Muncaster

None required. The Clerk reminded the council that a draft budget would be presented at the November meeting for approval. The Clerk to send a copy of the current up to date budget to all councillors for their information.

47/24 Parish Matters

47/24.1 Hard Knott Telephone Box

Clir Kirkby still pursing the National Trust for the Information leaflets for it to become an information hub.

47/24.2 Community Plan

Clerk to contact Act for next steps.

47/24.4 Environment

Noted that the new trees had established themselves and were growing.

47/24.5 To approve the new Financial Regulations

Village Hall – Clir Shaftesley reported that a meeting to be held w/c 23 September
New chairs had been purchased from ENW warm spaces grant

49/24 Correspondence

To discuss any correspondence received for open discussion

  • Correspondence received re review of Polling Stations and Districts. Council happy with current arrangements

50/24 Councillor Matters

  • Clir Kirkby had received a complaint from visitors that the gate by the cattlegrid located at the bottom of Hardknott ha been padlocked. Clerk to report
  • Clir Shaftesley reported that the current location of the new noticeboard was not practical and requires setting into the tarmac of the car park. Also requires magnetic pins to fix notices on. Clerk to contact Lengthsman to move noticeboard. Clerk to purchase pins.
  • Clir Brown reported that the war memorial needs cleaning and the names are not easy to read. Clerk to contact War Memorials Trust

The next meeting of the Parish Council 12 November 2024 at St Bega’s Village Hall, Eskdale Green commencing at 7.30pm

There being no other business the meeting closed at 2020 hours.
