MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE PARISH COUNCIL
HELD ON TUESDAY 9 JANUARY 2024 AT ST BEGA’S VILLAGE HALL,
ESKDALE GREEN COMMENCING AT 7.30PM

The Minutes of the meeting of the meeting held on 14 November 2023 were approved and signed by the Chair

71/23.1 Clerk’s Report
The Clerk stated that the lack of white lines at the junction by the King George had been reported again and contacted Irton with Santon PC re issues of no white lining at the entrance to Eskdale. Cost of trees were pack of 4 saplings £28. Resolved to purchase 4 Bird Cherry. Speed awareness stickers £120 for 100. Clerk to contact school re posters

Consultation re replacement bridge at Buckbarrow on the Corney Fell Road. It was noticeable an increase in traffic since Corney Fell road closed.

The telephone box has now been refurbished. Pictures showing before and after to be placed on website. Advertise on Facebook for ideas/take ownership of it

Questionnaire to be distributed around the village by councillors

Cllr Carlin submitted her resignation and was thanked by the Chair and the councillors for her hard work, there are now 2 vacancies. To be advertised.

Clerk to order trees. Grass contractor informed re wildflowers

Reviewed minor changes to contact details

A list of potential sites had been produced. Noted that gritters did not always grit to the school. Clerk to contact Highways and Cllr Pratt.

Councillors instructed the Clerk to contact CALC/NALC to raise concerns

Village Hall Committee – Cllr Shaftesley reported that change of ownership is still ongoing. A new Charitable Trust is being set up. Representatives to be invited to the March meeting to discuss joint working.
